Call for Entries – Issue #6!

MISSED CONNECTIONS

The camera sees something that the person using it does not — a luminous detail or furtive glance, a chance moment found only in retrospect. The phone goes to voicemail, and you are left trying to articulate something about a thought or a feeling or a moment to an audience of no one. The dream gets hopelessly lost in waking. A letter home will never fully communicate the place from which it was sent, and correspondence always registers distance besides. For the sixth issue of its annual Cinemazine, Canyon Cinema Foundation seeks writing, correspondence, film stills, artwork, artifacts, and other ephemera that can be reproduced in print on the theme of missed connections as it relates to artist-made cinema. Be expansive and imaginative in your approach. The deadline for proposals is Wednesday, April 10, with the expectation that submissions will be complete by mid-May. They can be sent to publications@canyoncinema.com, along with any questions you may have.

Call For Submissions Extended Deadline – Nov 1

ISSUE #3 — Special section on sound/music
Extended Deadline: Nov 1, 2014

The purpose of this zine is to reignite the discussion of underground and experimental film/video practice and theory, putting artists in the Bay Area in dialogue with the greater experimental community. It is a platform for art, ephemera, letters, jokes, as well as critical writing and insights into the ever-changing field.

We are asking for filmmakers, media artists as well as scholars and curators to submit letters, writing, artwork, photos, doodles, recipes and anything else for consideration. We are open to a wide variety of formats, but please submit black and white submissions only to keep printing costs at a minimum.

The fall issue will include a special themed section on music/sound, so proposals for for MP3 and WAV files should be sent to:
sounds@cinemazine.net.

All other submissions may be mailed to:
P.O. Box 16163
Oakland, CA 94610
Or emailed to: thecinemazine@gmail.com
